Starr travel insurance (specifically their TraveLead plans) offers comprehensive protection for a range of unexpected travel situations. The plans aim to provide peace of mind—whether you're travelling for leisure, adventure, or with family—by covering costly overseas medical events, travel snafus, and personal accidents.

We’ll highlight the core coverage and show you how the different Bronze, Silver, and Gold plans stack up, so you can make the smartest travel decision.

Core coverage benefits

  • Medical expenses:

    • Covers overseas inpatient and outpatient treatment (up to $1 million on Gold plan), with follow-up care back in Singapore.

    • Includes alternative treatments such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), physiotherapy, and chiropractic sessions.

  • Emergency assistance:

    • Unlimited emergency medical evacuation and repatriation.

    • 24-hour global emergency help, including hospital admission guarantee and arrangements for a relative to visit if you are hospitalised for an extended period.

  • Travel inconvenience:

    • Trip cancellation or postponement due to illness, accidents, family emergencies, or natural disasters.

    • Coverage for travel delays (as low as $100 per 6 hours; higher limits for Silver and Gold plans).

    • Baggage loss or damage, with sub-limits for individual items, laptops, and cameras.

    • Delayed baggage and missed bookings addressed in policy.

  • COVID-19 protection:

    • All plans include overseas COVID-19 medical expense coverage, ranging from $15,000 (Bronze) to $65,000 (Gold).

    • Silver and Gold also provide trip cancellation/curtailment if you catch COVID-19 before or during travel.

  • Personal accident:

    • Lump sums for accidental death or permanent disablement, up to $500,000 on Gold plan.

  • Adventure sports:

    • Activities like bungee jumping, hiking, hot air ballooning, sky diving, and diving (up to 18m) are covered for leisure purposes.

  • Rental vehicle excess:

    • Reimbursement for excess payable on hired cars, with increasing limits for higher-tier plans.

  • Other highlights:

    • Free child coverage under family plans.

    • Terrorism cover (for loss of life) is included.
