CIMB Cashback

Both the CIMB Visa Signature and Platinum Mastercard are cashback credit cards that reward you with cash rebates. The main difference between the 2 are the spending categories for bonus 10% cash back:

You get cashback with the CIMB Visa Signature Card based on beauty & wellness, online shopping, groceries, pet shops & vet clinics, and cruises categories.

For CIMB Platinum Mastercard Card, you get cashback on dining & entertainment, transport, petrol, foreign currency, and health & medical categories.

The base 0.2% cash rebate for all spending is credited on a monthly basis, within the same statement month. The remaining 9.8% for bonus categories will be credited the following statement month after the $800 minimum spend criteria is met. Cash back is capped at total $100 per statement month; maximum $20 per spending category.

CIMB credit card overseas activation

You can use your CIMB cards for overseas transactions where your card is “inserted'' into the terminal. However, for transactions that “swipe” your CIMB card, there is an additional step required. You’ll need to activate your CIMB credit card’s magnetic stripe for overseas use via phone call at (65) 6333 6666. Once successfully activated, you will receive a confirmation SMS.

To be safe, make sure you always activate your CIMB credit card before going overseas.
