One of the best UOB credit cards to use for online shopping is the UOB Preferred Platinum credit card. Despite its rather unassuming exterior, this is a pretty useful card that lets you earn 10X rewards (20 miles per S$5 spent) for online shopping as well as contactless payments offline.

That's right: It covers just about all of the average Singaporean's everyday spending. It's good for up to S$1,000 of spending a month.

Unfortunately, this credit card does not let you earn cashback. But you can exchange the points for shopping vouchers if you prefer those to air miles.

One of the most fuss-free credit cards in Singapore, the American Express True Cashback Card is "truly" simple to use. Whatever you spend on it, you get 1.5% cashback (3% for the first 6 months, on up to S$5,000). There is no minimum spend and no cap. Simple.

While 1.5% isn't the most impressive-sounding cash rebate, this card is great for big ticket purchases in the thousands, where you would easily burst the cap on other cashback or rewards credit cards.

Although Citibank does not have a promotional tie-up with Qoo10 right now, the Citibank Rewards Card still remains one of the best credit cards for online shopping in Singapore in general.

You get 10X rewards points (equivalent to 4 miles per S$1 spent) on all online shopping including your Qoo10 purchases. In addition, the same benefit applies to Grab, food delivery and other online services excluding travel bookings.

With no minimum spend to meet and the flexibility to redeem your points for miles, vouchers or gifts, it's a no-brainer to charge your Qoo10 purchases to this card. Just watch out for the S$1,000 monthly cap for bonus points.

Would you rather get cashback than rewards points on your Qoo10 purchases? Well, if you are a relatively modest online shopper, the DBS Live Fresh Card offers 5% cash rebate, which is way better than the 1.5% offered by the Amex True Cashback Card.

The catch is that there's a cap of S$20 a month for online spending, meaning it's good for up to S$400 a month. In addition, you have to hit the minimum spend of S$600 a month to get the 5% cashback.

On the other hand, that same 5% cashback extends to offline spending in the form of contactless payment (Visa PayWave, Apple Pay and so on) so it's a good all-rounder. The contactless payment cashback has a cap of S$20 as well (separate from the S$20 for online spending).

Yet another 10X rewards card for online shopping is the OCBC Titanium Rewards Card, which comes in a pink version and a blue version (shown here).

Although not all online platforms qualify for the 10X rewards, our favourite e-commerce sites like Qoo10 (of course) as well as Lazada, Shopee, Amazon and Taobao all qualify.

Like most rewards cards, there is no minimum spending requirement on this card. But probably the best thing about it is its expenditure cap. Instead of the standard S$1,000 monthly cap, this card has an annual cap of S$12,000. That means you can use this card on all those expensive, life-changing events, like moving house or having a baby.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I redeem these Qoo10 promotions?

If your credit card has a Qoo10 promotion, the exact mechanics may differ. For example, for the UOB S$5 rebate promo, you would make your Qoo10 purchase (minimum S$50) as per normal with a UOB credit card. After the item is delivered, head to qoo10.sg/uob and click on "Apply Event" to redeem your rebate in Qpoints. For the American Express one, however, you would need to sign up for a RebateMango account, shop on Qoo10, and make your purchase with an Amex card. So, read the terms & conditions to find out how exactly to redeem your discount.

What are Qpoints?

Qpoints are Qoo10's loyalty points, which can be used to offset the cost of purchases on the platform at an exchange rate of 100 Qpoints = S$1. You can earn Qpoints by playing games on the platform and leaving reviews on your previous purchases. When making your next purchase, just make sure that your Qpoints are applied as a discount on the total price.

What is Qoo10 Group Buy?

You might have come across "Group Buys" on Qoo10 for selected product. This is a promotion where sellers offer a discount as long as they get a minimum number of buyers. For example, you can get a $70 item for $60, as long as at least 20 people buy it today. If not enough people join the Group Buy, the deal is off. Don't worry if you have already joined the Group Buy deal - you will get a refund if there are not enough buyers.
