Citi Rewards Credit Card Benefits

The Citi Rewards Credit Card has been around for a couple of years and serves as one of the primary cards offered by the bank for spenders seeking to accumulate points within the Citi Rewards Programme. It used to be issued as a Visa credit card, but the current Citi Rewards Card has since migrated to the Mastercard network.

This card allows you to accumulate Citi ThankYou Points, which can be converted into miles, earned through online and offline shopping, using ride-hailing apps like Grab or Gojek for transportation, or making purchases through online food delivery and grocery shopping.

Having all these perks may sound appealing to you, but is it really suitable for your spending habits and lifestyle? Let's find out in this quick review.

Comparison: Citi Rewards vs HSBC Revolution vs DBS Woman’s World Card

At the moment, there are several popular credit cards offering attractive rewards that you can convert to either cash or air miles or other forms of benefits. Citi Rewards Card is just one of them, and comparable alternatives like HSBC Revolution Card and DBS Woman's World Card are some of the options listed on MoneySmart's online credit card comparison wizard which you can consider as well.

Let's put these 3 credit cards side by side.

  • Complimentary e-Commerce protection

  • Spend at least $25,000 annually to waive subsequent annual fee
  • Given the past nerfs to the HSBC Revolution Card, the Citi Rewards Card continues to stand as one of the more rewarding (no pun intended) miles credit cards to have in your collection. Rewarding 10X Citi ThankYou Points (4 miles) per $1 spend, it offers a wide array of eligible bonus transactions — with retail shopping as its strong suit. However, we must concede that when compared to the DBS Woman’s World Card, it does fall short with regards to its higher cap and inclusion of travel-related transactions.

If you're looking for lower interest rates and a guarantee of no annual fee charges (without the hassle of requesting waivers), the HSBC Revolution Card is more suitable, plus it has the lowest barrier to entry for foreigners looking to qualify for a rewards credit card based on the minimum annual income requirement.
