Citibank’s air miles cards allow you to earn miles that don’t expire, plus, you get complimentary travel insurance automatically upon full airfare charge. The underwriter is AIG.

It covers principle or supplementary cardmembers up to $1,000,000. And children get coverage up to $50,000. The complimentary travel insurance also covers medical & accidental dental expenses up to $40,000 per cardholder and $20,000 per accompanying dependent children.

You also get compensation for baggage loss, baggage delay, flight delay, trip interruption and trip cancellation.

Other cards that are entitled to automatic travel insurance are: Citi PremierMiles AMEX, Citi Prestige and Citi ULTIMA. Citi Cash Back Visa Signature and Citi Rewards Visa Signature Card also get complimentary travel insurance, but it’s not automatic and you need to activate it.

Take note that if you redeem air miles for your trip, you will not be entitled to the complimentary travel insurance.

Their travel insurance coverage also includes terrorism and disappearance extensions, which are unique extensions not commonly included in credit card travel insurance plans.
