With the usage of smart technologies to make insurance easy to buy, fast to claim, Tiq by Etiqa Insurance offers one of the cheapest travel insurance plans in Singapore.
All of the three Tiq Travel Insurance plans come with the option of a COVID-19 travel insurance add-on coverage of up to $500,000, which is something that is vital to have as more Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights are launched every few months.
In this review, let’s weigh the pros and cons, look at the Tiq Travel range of coverages, and find out if any of them are suitable for you and your travel companion.
As the first-of-its-kind in Singapore, this automated flight delay benefit reimbursement provided by Tiq Travel insurance offers you instant payout (with just 3 hours of consecutive delay) without the hassle of you submitting any claims.
Get up to $500,000 for COVID-19 related medical, evacuation and repatriation, and trip disruptions costs incurred, quarantine allowance, as well as up to $5,000 for non-refundable costs for cancelling or postponing your trip 14 days before your departure date. If you’re hospitalised in Singapore due to a COVID-19 diagnosis after your trip, you’ll get a lump sum payout if you are hospitalised in Singapore.
From medical advice and booking of an urgent medical appointment to embassy referral or lost passport assistance, Tiq's 24-hour emergency travel support bilingual team (English and Mandarin) is always available for you, wherever you are travelling.
Tiq by Etiqa Insurance is one of the few travel insurers in Singapore that provides pre-existing coverage for claims relating to your pre-existing medical conditions. This is Tiq's latest addition to their Tiq Travel Insurance plan which covers any overseas medical expenses, interruption, cancellation or delay of your Cruise to Nowhere vacation (does not make any stopover at any port/country). It operates the same as the usual travel insurance plan!
Tiq By Etiqa is their mobile app that gives you instant access to Tiq’s travel insurance products and services. How do travel claims work?
As with many other travel insurers, before you request to make claim with Tiq, you’ve got to be clear of what type of plan you purchased, when did the incident/illness occur (pre-trip, during-trip or post-trip), what belongings or items to claim for, and who are involved.
Here are 4 simple steps to submit your Etiqa travel insurance claim
Depending on what type of claim you’re making, there are different deadlines for different claims. For instance, for the loss of personal baggage and belongings like a laptop, you’re required to make the report within 24 hours of the incident. COVID-19 medical expenses or damaged baggage. As for travel postponement claims, you have to inform Tiq by Etiqa Insurance within 30 days of the incident. You may refer to Tiq’s travel claims requirements here.
It is best to inform Tiq within the required time periods so as to avoid breaching the policy’s terms and conditions, which may affect your claim process. You may report your claims via WhatsApp through their customer service hotline +65 6887 8777, the Tiq by Etiqa mobile app or their claims portal at TiqConnect.
In order to provide a full context of the incident and for Tiq to assess your claim or claims, you’ll need to provide all documentation that Tiq requests. This include:
Once you’ve submitted all the documents required via Tiq by Etiqa app or their claims portal at TiqConnect, you will receive a claim acknowledgement, before Tiq proceeds to review your claim.
You’ll receive an SMS to your mobile number registered with Tiq upon the completion of the PayNow transaction. Do note that all payouts are only made to the NRIC number of the policyholder. If you prefer other modes of payment, you can email to their Customer Service team at [email protected] to request for direct credit into your bank account.
For single trip travel insurance policies, Tiq will give you a full refund of the premium prior to the commencement of your travel insurance policy. However, no refund will be given after the period of insurance has commenced.
As for annual travel insurance, a pro-rated refund of the premium paid corresponding to the unexpired period of insurance will be given to you, as long as the amount to be refunded is at least $20 and no claim has been submitted prior to the cancellation of your policy.
