Following the acquisition of AIG’s global travel business by Zurich Insurance Group, Zurich Travel insurance products have been refreshed to include some of AIG’s travel coverage features.
Currently, Zurich Travel Insurance provides 3 types of plans to choose from – Basic, Essential and Prestige. Their Essential and Prestige plans come with the “FlyEasy” feature which includes complimentary airport lounge access when your flight gets delayed, and many more.
Here's an overview of the pros and cons of Zurich Insurance’s range of products and services for your consideration before you decide whether it is suitable for your travel needs as compared to similar travel insurance providers.
With up to $250,000 for overseas medical treatments (depending on which tier/plan you choose), you'll be able to claim for treatments by Chinese physicians, overseas hospital visits, overseas compassionate visit, plus complimentary coverage for COVID-19 related expenses.
In terms of the claim limit for costs associated with emergency evacuation/transportation to the nearest adequate medical facility, hospitalisations, surgeries, medications, and other medical expenses incurred due to an unexpected illness or injury while overseas and other related emergency services, the unlimited benefit is definitely much more appealing than many similar plans offered by other travel insurers in Singapore which have limits.
This feature is exclusively available for those who purchase either the Essential or Prestige travel insurance policy. Note that the flight delayed must be for more than 2 hours to be eligible for the complimentary airport lounge access benefit.
Zurich's terrorism coverage limits are quite generous, ranging from $200,000 to $500,000 depending on whether you choose a Basic, Essential or Prestige plan. It is best to refer to any terrorism-related losses listed in your policy, up to your plan’s limit.
This bonus cover is included in every type of Zurich Insurance plan and across all tiers. Leisure sports like zip-lining, bungee jumping, tandem skydiving, canoeing/white water rafting, scuba diving are mostly covered, provided that a qualified guide is present (only applicable to certain activities).
Benefits include:
This entry-level plan offers basic coverage for medical expenses up to $50,000, along with protection for trip cancellations, lost belongings, and travel delays. Perfect for budget-conscious travellers seeking essential insurance without breaking the bank.
Benefits include:
Stepping up from the basic plan, the Essential plan gives you a greater medical expenses coverage limit that is more than double of the Basic plan’s limit, it also includes higher limits for trip cancellations, personal belongings, and travel delays.
Benefits include:
For those seeking much more comprehensive protection, this plan provides the most extensive coverage available. It comprises $250,000 in medical expenses coverage, along with the highest limits for trip cancellations, personal belongings, and travel delays among the Zurich Travel Insurance plans. This plan could be ideal for travellers who want a lot more coverage.
